Center Ice Rookie Program

Center Ice Rookie Program is for those ages 4-8 looking to start playing hockey for the first time. This program is designed to outfit your players with the equipment and on ice comfort to begin their hockey journey. Rookie is the first step to joining a Valley Forge Colonials team.

Rookie – CHIP – VFC

Players in the Rookie program will be given their first set of gear, that is theirs to keep and use after completing the program.  While on the ice, our coaching staff will work with Rookies on the basics of skating and lite game play to get comfortable in a hockey setting. Prior skating experience is always welcome, but not required.

What is included:

• Helmet, shoulder pads, elbow pads, pants, shin pads, jersey, stick
• Skates are available for players to borrow for practices.
  • Skates are kept at the rink for safe keeping and continued use throughout programs.

What you are responsible for:

• Mouth Guard, Athletic supporter (boys – cup. girls – jill)
  • Available in our Pro shop or at any local sporting goods store

Equipment Fittings:

• Fittings will take place at the Rink.
• Parents will receive an email following registration to set up a fitting time with a coach or rink representative.
  • Parents and players will learn how to put on equipment at fittings.

Program Dates (Registration open from 8/4-8/31):

9/7, 9/14, 9/21, 9/28, 10/5, 10/19 (no session on 10/12)

Program Time:

Saturdays 10:15-11:00 AM

Program Cost:

$175 (6 week session)

After completing the Center Ice Rookie Program, you are ready to join CHIP!

You will need to purchase your own skates for CHIP if you do not already have them.

This is not the Flyers Rookie Program.  That is offered in late Fall and Early Winter. Check their website at https://www.learntoplay.nhl.com/locations/flyers/

Center Ice Rookie Program will not be offered in sessions where the Flyers Rookie program is offered.
