| HOME PAGE | Billet Information Each season the Valley Forge Minutemen recruit players who show the potential to compete at college levels and beyond. Players are recruited from many states, and are in need of housing, within driving distance of our rink at Center Ice Arena in Oaks PA. In order to for players to take advantage of the opportunity, those players need families willing to share their homes, and make it a home away from home for these players. What is expected of a Host Family? Players need a room with a bed, dresser and closet. The host family will provide three meals a day: breakfast, lunch and dinner. When the players are on the road, they are required to take care of their own meal expenses. What is expected of the Players? Players are required to provide bed and bath linens, personal care items, cell phones computers and have their own transportation. When the players are on the road, they are required to take care of their own meal expenses. Players MUST obey all house and team rules and show respect and consideration towards all family members. They need to take care of their own belongings, laundry, ironing, dishes and clean up after themselves. YOUR GENEROSITY WILL NOT BE TAKEN FOR GRANTED. How long is the Host Family commitment? This varies for all players, but in most cases, the players are with the family from the start of training camp (usually the end of August) until playoffs in mid-March. These have been some special situations in which a player may have to finish their college courses after playoffs are over, extending their stay a few weeks longer. Some players choose to head home on weekends that the schedule permits. All players go home for holiday breaks. Additional information. Families receive a monthly billeting payment for each player. Some families have housed more than one player as they travel together and are company to each other. Host families can be 2 parent families, single parent families, as well as empty nesters. Our past experience with billet families has been a great success. The Valley Forge Minutemen Junior Program has placed many players in top colleges. These players are here to compete and fulfill their quest to continue their education and hockey careers. Billet families have provided the opportunity for such players to remain focused and compelled to achieve. If you are interested in becoming a billet family, or would like further details, please contact our billeting coordinator, Coach Jerry Domish at 610-650-9695 ext. 11. Coach Domish has successfully placed players in the billet homes for over 3 years and will certainly be able to answer all your questions. |
